Catherine Baumgartner is an associate at McDowell Hetherington’s Northern California office. Catherine joins McDowell Hetherington after working as an Assistant Public Defender in Miami-Dade County for two and a half years. There she gained significant litigation experience from representing adult and juvenile indigent criminal defendants in a wide variety of felony and misdemeanor cases.
Catherine received her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers. While in law school, Catherine competed as part of the Charles C. Papy, Jr. Moot Court Board and served as the symposium and events editor on the Business Law Review. She also participated in the Death Penalty Practicum and served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Jonathan Goodman at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Catherine earned her undergraduate degree in art history from Emory University. She has a strong interest in art and archaeology and interned for the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, the Menil Collection, and Emory University’s Michael C. Carlos Museum.
Outside of the office, Catherine enjoys running, exploring national and state parks, visiting museums, and attending music and theater events.
