Peng Shao is an associate in the firm’s Northern California office, where he focuses his practice on complex financial services litigation. Before joining McDowell Hetherington, Mr. Shao practiced at a leading class action litigation firm in San Francisco, where he specialized in financial products and securities litigation. Prior to this, Mr. Shao served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Ohio.
Mr. Shao has represented both defendants and plaintiffs on a class-wide basis in trial and appellate courts across the country. His experience spans class actions in consumer, antitrust, financial services, investor protection against securities fraud, and civil rights class violations under the Unruh Civil Rights Act and FEHA. This includes extensive motions practice, such as Motions to Strike, Motions to Dismiss, various discovery motions, Motions for both Preliminary and Final Settlement Approval, and Motions for Attorney’s Fee under the lodestar system.
Mr. Shao is a graduate of UC Davis School of Law. There, Mr. Shao served as an editor on the Business Law Journal and externed full-time at the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of California. Also, during law school, Mr. Shao proudly represented UC Davis as a senior member of the Immigration Law Clinic and brought a case before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Shao received his B.S. in Biology with honors from University of Kentucky and is published in the Journal of BioChemistry.
Outside of work, Mr. Shao is an avid soccer fan. He also enjoys hiking, skiing, and spending time with his dog.
