Jennifer Chung represents some of the nation’s largest insurers on the plaintiff and defense side in federal and state courts across the country, with a focus on life, health, and disability insurance. Her diverse litigation experience includes confirming policy rescissions based on misrepresentations, pursuing insurance fraud claims, defending breach of contract, bad faith, and deceptive trade practices claims, upholding ERISA benefit denials, and recovering provider overpayments. She has extensive experience representing stop loss carriers, understanding the unique issues, interests, and dynamic among stop loss insurers, managing general underwriters, third party administrators, and employers who sponsor self-funded health plans. Jennifer also works on behalf of insurers and claims administrators to enforce reimbursement and subrogation rights in connection with various types of health plans, including ERISA, non-ERISA, and Medicare Advantage plans. Whether responding to an individual complaint or demand, interacting with regulatory authorities, or litigating, Jennifer is a creative advocate who quickly internalizes her clients’ goals and crafts strategies that deliver favorable results.
During law school, Jennifer was an active member of the Moot Court team, obtaining recognition for her speaking and writing skills in the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Hong Kong and winning the best brief award in the Texas Young Lawyers Association State Moot. Jennifer also served as an intern for Judge David Hittner in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas and was an Articles Editor for the Houston Journal of International Law.
Jennifer is a member of the Garland R. Walker American Inn of Court, the Houston Bar Association, and the Houston Young Lawyers’ Association.
When not in the office, Jennifer can be found at the NASA space center, the zoo or one of Houston’s museums or outdoor parks with her twin boys. Jennifer can speak conversational Korean.
