Emil Sadykhov joined McDowell Hetherington LLP as an Associate in 2019, and he is based out of the Houston office. Emil’s practice focuses on general civil and commercial litigation, including disputes involving labor laws, real and personal property, eminent domain, insurance, and contracts. He has practiced in front of a variety of State and Federal courts, ranging from County Court to State and Federal District Courts.
Before joining McDowell Hetherington LLP, Emil graduated cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center in May 2018 after earning a B.B.A. in Finance from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business. While in law school, Emil was an Articles Editor on the Houston Law Review – where his student comment, Nonlawyer Equity Ownership of Law Practices: A Free Market Approach to Increasing Access to Courts, 55 Hous. L. Rev. 225 (2017), was also published – and later worked as a research assistant for Professor Bret Wells on his article Reform of Corporate Distributions in Subchapter C, 37 Va. Tax Rev. 365 (2018). Emil also served as president and vice-president of the UHLC chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and worked two semesters as a student attorney at the Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic, assisting local entrepreneurs and small business owners in the inner-city Houston area with contract drafting and entity formation and structuring.
Emil was born and raised in Houston, Texas but is an avid Dallas Stars fan (don’t hold it against him) and speaks Russian fluently (which is unrelated to his love of hockey). When not in the office, Emil enjoys weightlifting, playing music, and spending time with his friends and family. Emil also volunteers bi-annually at the Polish Festival put on by Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Church and strongly recommends that you check it out sometime.
