Andrew Kasner is a partner on McDowell Hetherington’s life, health, and disability litigation team.

His practice helps clients navigate all aspects of the litigation process—starting with disputes in pre-litigation and continuing through pre-trial discovery, trial, appeal, and settlement. Today, Andrew principally litigates a multitude of issues affecting the life insurance and healthcare industries, such as litigating and/or arbitrating multi-million dollar disputes between payers and providers and payers and their customers. Aside from his extensive work in the life, health, and disability space, Andrew has litigated countless lawsuits, including high-stakes class actions.

At the appellate level, Andrew has successfully briefed a variety of issues before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Tenth Circuits – obtaining orders affirming summary judgments awarded to McDowell Hetherington’s clients. Andrew has successfully briefed and argued an appellate matter in California state court – obtaining an order affirming the trial court’s dismissal of a McDowell Hetherington client from a lawsuit filed in San Diego County. Andrew has likewise authored numerous appellate briefs in other jurisdictions, including Texas and New York.

Andrew also advises and assists clients with all types of investigations, including responding to investigations being pursued by the government and/or regulators.

In addition to his growing life, health, and disability practice, Andrew enjoys volunteering his time. Among his proudest accomplishments – obtaining termination of a minor child’s deportation proceedings while also obtaining permanent residence status for the child on a pro bono basis.

Andrew is a music enthusiast, avid sports fan, and proud alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin. He looks back fondly on the Longhorns’ days of glory, and he relishes time spent with his wife and daughter.
