Emily Ogden is a dedicated advocate delivering results-driven representation to clients in complex civil and commercial disputes.

Emily represents businesses and individuals throughout all phases of litigation, from strategic case assessment through trial. Working across a broad spectrum of industries, she focuses on advancing client objectives through diligent preparation and decisive advocacy.

A native Texan and proud “double longhorn,” Emily earned both her Bachelor of Arts in English and her Juris Doctorate from The University of Texas at Austin. While in law school, Emily was an advanced student attorney for the Children’s Rights Clinic and a student attorney for the Domestic Violence Clinic. She was also significantly involved in the trial advocacy program, serving on the executive board for Board of Advocates. Upon graduation, she was inducted to the Order of Barristers and received the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award for best mock trial advocate in her graduating class.

Prior to joining McDowell Hetherington, Emily was a trial lawyer at the largest firm in Texas that is dedicated exclusively to practicing family law. There, she gained extensive bench and jury trial experience, in addition to mediation and negotiation expertise. Her recognitions include Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch (2025 & 2026) and Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers – Rising Star (2025). She brings a client-centered approach to her practice, prioritizing strong client relationships, clear communication, and goal-oriented representation.

Emily is passionate about mentoring the next generation of trial lawyers, and she spends her free time coaching mock trial students and serving as an adjunct professor for the advocacy program at the University of Texas School of Law. Outside of the office, Emily also enjoys reading, travel, Tex-Mex, and walks with her “niece and nephew,” Honey the Shih Tzu and Chewy the goldendoodle.
