Jake Hicks represents a wide range of businesses and individuals from pre-trial through appeal.

He focuses on complex commercial litigation, representing clients in both state and federal courts, and before panels in numerous arbitration associations. Clients have trusted Jake to take lead roles in negotiations, motions practice, depositions, and as first-chair in both jury and bench trials.

Jake’s practice covers several industries, including energy, financial services, and insurance. Jake also advises clients in the esports and video gaming space, both with respect to regulatory matters and commercial issues raised in this emerging and evolving market. He has served as a consultant and esports legal advisor, working with parties throughout sports, media, and entertainment to navigate the complex and evolving esports legal landscape in issues as diverse as antitrust and employment, through media content licensing and intellectual property. Jake has also performed in-house counsel duties for video game development studios and esports organizations, helping solve a myriad of business and legal problems on a regular basis.

Jake received his Bachelor of Arts from Rice University, where he double majored in Political Science (concentration in American Government) and Policy Studies (concentration in Law & Justice Policy). He then received his J.D., cum laude, from South Texas College of Law Houston. During law school, Jake was a Langdell Scholar and served as Assistant Note & Comment Editor for the South Texas Law Review.
