Jillian Kerr is an associate in the Houston office, focusing on health insurance and commercial litigation.

Jillian earned her Bachelor of Arts in both Economics and Philosophy from Pennsylvania State University. Thereafter, Jillian spent an additional three years in Happy Valley while she earned her Juris Doctor from Penn State Dickinson Law. While in law school, Jillian earned certificates in Business, Corporate and Entrepreneurship Law, Arbitration, Mediation, and Negotiation, and Intellectual Property. She was also a student clinician in the Entrepreneur Assistance Clinic, a member of the Editorial Board of the Penn State Law Arbitration Law Review, and served as the Chancellor for the Alternative Dispute Resolution team. Jillian’s exceptional oral advocacy as a member of Penn State Law’s Alternative Dispute Resolution team earned her a place in the Order of the Barristers.

Prior to joining McDowell Hetherington, Jillian was an associate at a New York insurance defense firm where she represented the interests of both insurers and insureds, including municipalities and local government entities, in construction and motor vehicle accidents. She secured favorable settlements through skilled negotiation, minimizing exposure for her clients. Jillian gained significant pretrial experience in taking and defending depositions and drafting dispositive motions.

In her free time, Jillian enjoys spending time with her loved ones, playing with her rescue cat, going on walks, shopping, dancing, and reading.
