Mary is a fierce client advocate and systematic problem solver with over a decade of litigation experience.

She has a detail-oriented and collaborative approach to litigation and solving client concerns. Mary has guided numerous clients through the litigation process at every level, including pre-litigation strategy and risk analysis, written discovery, depositions, dispositive motion practice, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and appeals. She has litigated cases in state and federal courts across multiple states and federal jurisdictions, including Texas, New Mexico, Georgia, Tennessee, Kansas, and Florida, as well as handled matters in AAA and JAMS arbitration proceedings. Mary focuses on McDowell Hetherington’s Health Care, Energy, Commercial, and Personal Injury Litigation sections. Her current practice includes handling breach of contract, bad faith, and deceptive trade practices claims; health and managed care disputes between hospitals and provider groups regarding provider agreements, billing practices, and ERISA benefit denials; and energy-related contractual disputes and class action lawsuits, including NAEBS and ISDA negotiation and interpretation.

Mary graduated from University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas and graduated from Baylor Law School. As a law student and an undergraduate, Mary competed nationally in multiple moot court and mock trial competitions, where she earned multiple best appellate brief and top speaker awards. Mary volunteered with the Baylor Law School Immigration Clinic, helping individuals complete DACA applications. She also first and second chaired dozens of jury trial cases while volunteering with the City of Angleton Municipal Prosecutor’s Office upon graduation from Baylor Law School. While an undergraduate, Mary also volunteered with Memorial Assistance Ministries. Prior to joining McDowell Hetherington, Mary honed her litigation skills at two boutique Houston-area firms.

During her time outside of the office, Mary enjoys hiking and traveling with her husband and son, cooking, and practicing yoga.
