Matthew Norman takes pride in his attention to detail to his clients’ matters big and small.

A native Texan, Matthew earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Biola University in La Mirada, California. During law school, he competed on the Law Center’s national mock trial team, winning the regional championship of the ABA Arbitration Competition in 2023. He previously interned with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of the Texas, and for the Honorable Charles Eskridge on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Matthew was named to the Order of the Barristers in 2025.

Before joining McDowell Hetherington, Matthew gained valuable insight into the judicial process as an inaugural law clerk for a newly-appointed federal District Judge.

Prior to law school, Matthew was a Field Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army for seven years, deploying to the Republic of Korea in 2017 and to Afghanistan in 2020 as part of Operation Resolute Support. Outside of the office, he enjoys volunteering at his church, camping with his children, and exploring Houston with his wife.
