Michael Greenberg is a passionate litigator who has successfully represented large companies, insurers, and individuals in complex commercial, insurance, and intellectual property disputes throughout the country.

Michael’s first experience with the adversarial process came with his service of four years on the Tulane University Honor Board, three of which were as chairman. That experience, along with watching debates at the Cambridge Union Society during his semester abroad at the Institute of Economic and Political Studies at the University of Cambridge, inspired his decision to go to law school. A Florida native, Michael returned home and attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he became an editor on the Journal of Technology Law and Policy and proudly served as president of the Jewish Law Students Association. He went on to graduate with a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law.

Michael began his legal career by serving a two-year clerkship for the Honorable Mark W. Klingensmith in the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal, an invaluable experience that allowed him to hone his advocacy skills and legal knowledge across a wide range of Florida state law. From there he began his private practice with the appellate group of a boutique general liability law firm before joining one of the ten biggest law firms in the country, where for years he litigated and arbitrated complex commercial, securities, trademark, trade dress, and copyright cases. In that role he also advised businesses large and small on how to best protect their intellectual property and avoid infringement, engaged in proactive IP enforcement, filed trademarks, and appeared before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Craving more experience as a lead handling attorney, Michael shifted gears and became an in-house litigator for a Florida homeowners insurance company. At the company for over five years, he litigated hundreds of first party property lawsuits from inception and advised outside appellate counsel.

Whether it’s making an argument, litigating a case, or otherwise serving his clients to achieve their goals, Michael prioritizes efficiency, clarity, and honesty. He now brings that approach, along with his wealth of experience and knowledge, to his role with McDowell Hetherington’s South Florida office.

When he’s not working, Michael spends his time cherishing his wife, giving his three young sons life lessons and good taste, seeing live music (for kids and adults), and trying not to be chosen last in pickup basketball.
