Megan is an Associate Attorney in the firm’s Houston office. Megan’s practice focuses on representing clients through their bankruptcy-related litigation and restructuring matters, with experience in: Energy Service Company Protections, Hedging and Trading Issues in Bankruptcy, Contract Disputes, Utility Protections, Fraud Investigations and Litigation, Fair Credit Reporting Act Issues, Ponzi Scheme Litigation, Chapter 7 Trustee Representation, and International Insolvency Proceedings.

Since joining McDowell Hetherington, Megan has represented clients of all sizes and complexities of Chapter 7 and 11 filings nationwide and across industries, including retail, energy, manufacturing, and real estate. Megan maintains a robust practice representing clients in pre- and post-bankruptcy collection efforts in both state and federal courts nationwide. Megan also assists clients with all aspects of out-of-court workouts and debt management issues.Before joining McDowell Hetherington, Megan gained extensive bankruptcy and federal court experience during her four-year term as a judicial clerk to The Honorable Craig A. Gargotta, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of Texas.  Megan also interned for The Honorable Gloria M. Burns (ret.), United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of New Jersey.

As a law student, Megan participated in the Drexel Law Appellate Litigation Clinic, where she and her partner successfully appealed an administrative denial of their client’s social security benefits to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania resulting in payment of back benefits totaling over $1 million.

Professionally, Megan is an active member of the Moller-Foltz American Bankruptcy Inn of Court and the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation. Megan also engages in volunteerism within the Houston community through her service in the Junior League of Houston.

Apart from practicing law, Megan keeps herself (and her husband) busy with DIY home renovation and décor projects, re-learning to play the piano, and spending time with their yorkie terrier, maltese, and chatty cat.
