Kristen M. Hefley is an associate in McDowell Hetherington’s South Florida office, focusing on representing multinational insurance companies in complex and specialized litigation, including first-party property defense and third-party liability matters. Kristen also has experience preparing insurance coverage opinions and litigating cases relating to personal injury and general liability matters with extensive experience handling virtually all phases of litigation from pretrial dispute resolution through mediation to trial preparation. Before joining McDowell Hetherington, Kristen gained valuable experience working at litigation boutiques in Coral Gables and Miami Beach, Florida.

Kristen graduated cum laude from Boston University with her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. While earning her degree, Kristen appeared on the Dean’s list for multiple semesters and was a member of a national co-ed community service fraternity where she provided service to the Boston community through many organizations such as American Red Cross and The Greater Boston Food Bank. Kristen obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law. While in law school, Kristen received a ‘CALI Excellence for the Future Award’ in her Trademark Management and Business Strategy class and worked as a law clerk gaining experience in a boutique Miami Beach law firm.

Outside of the office, Kristen enjoys reading, binge-watching TV shows and movies, and spending quality time with her family, dog, and friends.
