Steven Correa maintains a diverse litigation practice and has represented clients in state and federal courts across the country on commercial matters arising out of financial services and construction disputes. Steven has represented numerous contractors in the preparation, perfection, and enforcement of mechanic’s and materialman’s liens in connection with residential, commercial, and oil & gas projects, and has represented both property owners and contractors throughout the state of Texas in litigation involving breach of contract, construction defect, and disputes arising under the Texas Residential Construction Liability Act (RCLA). Steven also has extensive experience representing insurance carriers in a variety of matters in both state and federal court, ranging from property and casualty, personal injury, subrogation, life, health and disability coverage disputes to multi-state life insurance fraud and stranger-owned life insurance (STOLI) litigation. In addition to his litigation experience, Steven has assisted numerous life insurance carriers in investigating fraudulent medical and financial representations made during the application and claim handling process.
While in law school, Steven served as the Chancellor Baron in the Order of the Barons and was a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for academic excellence. Steven also served as an articles editor for the Houston Journal of International Law. Prior to attending law school, Steven worked as a legislative aide for the Texas Senate Subcommittee on Higher Education during the 79th session of the Texas Legislature.
When not in the office, Steven can typically be found spending time with his wife and two young children. When time permits, Steven enjoys playing golf and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. Steven is an avid sports fan and a proud supporter of the Fighting Texas Aggies and the Houston Texans.
